70,000 BMW electric cars recalled due to software bug
BMW recently announced a surprise recall for several electric models due to a software error in the high-voltage system. The affected vehicles are mostly in the United States magazin de piese auto online.

BMW recently announced that it is organizing a service campaign for a total of 70,852 vehicles from the BMW i4 (model years 2022–2025), iX (2022–2024), i7 (2023–2024) and i5 (2024) series. The campaign mainly affects cars from the USA. Due to a software error in the high-voltage electrical system, the machine can “go out” while moving, reveals a publication by AMS.
Solution to the software problem
Due to incorrect logic in the software, the manufacturer states that it is not excluded that the high-voltage system of the affected cars may switch off while driving. The reason is that the system is deactivated preventively to avoid the risks of fire or electric shock. As a result, the car remains without power within 15-20 seconds after the warning message appears on the cockpit display. However, the brake and steering servos remain active.
After the free software update, the risk of system shutdown and the associated dangers will be eliminated. The update can be easily installed wirelessly, eliminating the need for a workshop visit. BMW dealers can also install the update on site at a workshop.
