Audi S6: 30 years of gas to the brim
In 1994, Audi decided to offer a rather challenging sports version of its current A6 model, designated as the S6. It was also available in sedan and station wagon versions, but it featured some serious improvements. External differences with the basic version were minor and limited to two emblems on the grille and the tailgate. Inside, the car had sports seats and leather upholstery, and standard equipment also included automatic air conditioning, an on-board computer and a premium audio system. The interior was spacious enough, with only the central tunnel, necessary for the 4x4 system, limiting the legroom for the passenger in the middle of the rear seat. Under the hood was an inline 5-cylinder engine, identical to that of the original Audi S1 rally car. Later, the turbocharged gasoline unit was replaced by a 4.2-liter naturally aspirated V8. While the 2.2-liter unit is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission (and a 5-speed for the US market), the V8 is equipped with a four-speed automatic transmission as standard, with the 6-speed automatic only available as an option magazin de piese auto online.

Two years after the debut of the second generation A6 in 1997, Audi presented its more powerful version, the S6, which, like its predecessor, managed to win the hearts of many connoisseurs around the world. The design of the alloy wheels was inspired by that of the Audi TT, the front fenders and sills were slightly wider, and the lowered and stiffened suspension was designed specifically for the S6. Among the external distinctive features are the two exhaust pipes with chrome tips, part of the standard equipment. The S6 has high front seats that provide better lateral support when cornering, but the list of options also includes a set of sports bucket seats designed by Recaro. From an engineering point of view, the S6 is a completely different car from the rest of the A6 range. The all-wheel drive system is tuned for dynamics, with a Torsen center differential and electronic differential locks (EDL) at the front and rear, controlled by the Bosch ESP system. The engine is a 4.2-liter V8 with 340 hp, which is 40 more than the standard 4.2-liter in the A6. It is available with a 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission with manual gear shifting (Tiptronic).
The sporty tradition continues with the next version of the Audi S6, introduced in 2019. Interestingly, it is available in a diesel version for Europe and a gasoline version for the American market. The 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine also uses an electric compressor, which increases the maximum torque from just 2,500 rpm and maintains it up to 3,100 rpm. This may seem like a low range for a gasoline engine, but for a diesel it is more than enough. This torque on a flat curve is 700 Nm, which helps the large sedan accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5 seconds. To achieve this dynamics, Audi installed an electric compressor that rotates at around 70,000 rpm and compensates for the air flow when the turbocharger does not have enough air to spin. In addition, the suspension has been improved with an electronic adaptive system, and as an option, a sports differential for the rear axle can be ordered. Outside Europe, the S6 is available with a twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine developing 450 hp.
