BYD Seal 08 charges 400 kilometers in just five minutes
BYD presents its new electric flagship Seal 08 – with a new Blade battery and incredible charging power. The details piese auto online.

BYD is raising the bar – and doing it right: With the new Seal 08, the Chinese manufacturer is presenting an electric luxury sedan that is packed with technology and is aimed at the premium segment. Its range, charging power and high-tech features demonstrate where BYD is headed – and will put significant pressure on the competition.
Perhaps the most spectacular promise: The Seal 08 will be able to charge up to 400 kilometers in just five minutes. This is possible thanks to the new 800-volt architecture in combination with the next generation Blade battery.
Possible range of over 1000 kilometers
BYD also promises a range of over 1,000 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC cycle. A value that is guaranteed to attract attention, even in this class of car.
BYD is also aiming for the highest-quality powertrain. Plans include an all-wheel drive version with high system power, which will put the Seal 08 in direct competition with models like the Tesla Model S. It will also feature technology clearly aimed at the premium segment: air suspension, rear steering wheels and advanced driver assistance systems, including lidar sensors, which will raise comfort and safety to the highest level.
In appearance, the sedan is heavily inspired by the Ocean-S concept, featuring a low, elongated silhouette with a focus on aerodynamics. At the same time, the model significantly surpasses the previous BYD Seal, clearly aiming for the luxury class.
Seal 08 starts at around 36,000 euros
With the Seal 08, BYD is making it clear that it no longer intends to compete solely on price. Instead, BYD is increasingly focusing on high-tech features, power and mileage – and could thus pose a serious threat to established manufacturers in the premium segment.
In China, the Seal 08 starts at around €36,000, with the most heavily equipped versions costing around €49,000. Whether and when BYD will launch its flagship in Europe remains to be seen. However, given the brand's global expansion plans, a later European launch wouldn't be surprising.
