CATL's new battery charges in 10 minutes
The world's largest battery maker is introducing a super battery for electric vehicles that can be fully charged in ten minutes - almost as fast as filling up at a gas station. The "Shenxing Pro" also features innovative fire protection piese auto online.

The Chinese market leader in electric vehicle batteries, CATL, presented its new “Shenxing Pro” battery at the IAA 2025. It outperforms conventional energy storage devices for electric vehicles in several ways. In Chinese, Shenxing means “fast travel.” And it’s a fitting name: a full charge of this battery takes almost as little time as filling up at a gas station, the manufacturer says.
CATL has calculated that the 110 kWh super battery can store enough energy to travel 0.8 kilometers in one second. Under ideal conditions, the battery charge increases from 10 to 80 percent in ten minutes. This corresponds to an increase in range of 478 kilometers in ten minutes – so the coffee break shouldn’t last long.
Specifically, this means that the Shenxing Pro charges with a gigantic charging capacity of up to 1.3 megawatts. However, this charging capacity is still purely theoretical, as the most powerful fast charging stations in Europe currently do not exceed 350 kW. – about a third of the Shenxing’s charging capacity.
The battery option is extremely durable
Another variant of the Shenxing Pro battery is designed not for charging power, but for durability. It is called “Super Long Life” and has a slightly larger capacity of 122 kWh. – making it one of the largest electric vehicle batteries to date. According to CATL, after 200,000 km of mileage, a maximum of nine percent degradation of the battery will occur.
The Chinese manufacturer promises a service life of one million kilometers, or twelve years, until capacity drops below 70 percent. Currently, electric car manufacturers typically offer a warranty of eight years, or 160,000 kilometers.
Eliminating the risk of fire in the electric vehicle
CATL's new Shenxing Pro battery also features innovative technology that makes dangerous fires in electric vehicles virtually impossible. CATL calls this technology "No Propagation 3.0" (literally translated: "No Propagation"), which prevents the spread of fire from one battery cell to others.
Electric vehicle batteries consist of many individual cells connected to each other. If one cell in the battery shows any problems, the neighboring cells immediately cool down, reducing the pressure on the problematic cell. Special chemicals in the battery also protect the individual cells from each other. This means that any fires that occur are extinguished immediately when heated.
CATL promises that an electric car equipped with the Shenxing Pro battery will continue to operate at full power for at least an hour, even if a single cell fails. The technology is designed to eliminate the risk of fire or smoke, allowing the driver to park and exit the vehicle safely in the event of an emergency. According to the Chinese manufacturer, this is a “new global standard in battery safety.”
Shenxing Pro battery is available for order
When will this miracle battery appear? The innovation could soon power the first electric models. CATL says the batteries are ready for the market and automakers can order and install them immediately. The Chinese battery giant has had a plant in Thuringia, Germany since 2018, where the new super batteries could be produced after converting production facilities.
