Electric or petrol: Audi Q8 55 e-tron quattro vs Audi Q8 55 TFSI quattro (TEST)

BOTH ARE CALLED Q8, they look very similar, but they are on different platforms. The 4.99m long TFSI is actually even bigger than the 4.92m long e-tron and at 3.0m it has a longer wheelbase, the e-tron's wheelbase is 2.93m. The petrol version is powered by a 3.0-litre V6 engine with 340hp. A nice unit with a sonorous, strong sound that doesn't have any problems with the weight of 2.2t. But of course, the two electric motors in the 2.6t
The e-tron, which provides a total of 408 hp, starts working powerfully from the start, at least up to a speed of 160 km/h, after which acceleration decreases significantly.

Both Q8s drive exactly as you would expect from a five-meter SUV: powerful, confident and extremely comfortable (air suspension as standard in the e-tron, with the TFSI 1998 leva). The petrol version, which is at least 400 kg lighter, seems more manageable and agile – especially with the 2872 leva all-wheel steering (package), which is not available for the e-tron. In the test it consumed 12.8 l, the e-tron achieved 28.6 kWh. The 55 TFSI starts at 178,883 leva, with costs amounting to a very impressive 2.24 leva per kilometer. The 55 e-tron is available from 169,632 leva – in the end it comes out 1.96 leva per kilometer. Still a lot, but cheaper than the TFSI.

Conclusion

The Q8 offers plenty of space and comfort, power and luxury in both versions. With a nice V6 engine, it goes very fast, while the e-tron not so much – up to about 160 km/h. Both options are expensive – in the end the e-tron actually turns out to be (slightly) cheaper to maintain.
