ETF MT-240: the world's largest dump truck comes from Slovenia
The ETF MT-240 truck with a payload of 760 tons is an innovative vehicle developed by the Slovenian company ETF Trucks in an attempt to transform and optimize cargo transportation in quarry conditions. It attracts attention with its technical characteristics and efficiency, but the key advantage of this concept is its modularity. Until recently, the absolute leader in this area was the Belarusian dump truck BelAZ-75710 with a payload of 450 tons. However, the new Slovak giant is almost twice as powerful, and this is far from all that it can boast magazin de piese auto online.

Thanks to the applied modular design, customers get the opportunity to configure it according to their needs. For example, the basic version of the dump truck is offered with a 5-axle chassis, but if desired, a module for three more axles can be added. Modifications with two, three and four axles are also available. The cabin is a separate module and can be quickly dismantled if necessary, and the chassis can be used as a trailer for a second truck. The engines and batteries are also mounted on a modular base, which allows for quick dismantling or replacement if necessary. In addition, the multi-axle chassis improves road stability and reduces the load on each individual axle. This makes the truck more stable, both during loading and in motion. Another key advantage of the design is that all axles are connected to the steering system, and practically all wheels, in addition to the driving wheels, are also steerable, which significantly contributes to the truck's maneuverability: for example, its turning radius in the minimum configuration is only 14.5 meters, while in the eight-axle version it is 40.2 meters.
Its length varies from 12.5 to 40 meters, while its width is only 7.6 meters, which is 2.15 meters less than that of the BelAZ-75710. It is also worth noting that in the design process, engineers also took into account current environmental trends.
The basic configuration is equipped with four V-shaped 8-cylinder Mercedes-Benz OM-502 engines, each of which has a working volume of 15.9 liters (total 63.6 liters) and a power of 653 hp (480 kW). When all four are working, the power is 2612 hp (1920 kW). This truck can move both on normal pavement or sand, and overcome marshy terrain, and thanks to its size and maneuverability it can also be used on hard-to-reach quarry sites with narrow roads. The engineers of the manufacturing company also guarantee a reduction in fuel costs during quarry operations by up to 25% and an increase in overall productivity by 12%. And thanks to its modularity, the truck can be ordered complete with a cabin and several trailers and combined into road trains of various configurations.
Modularity, flexibility and numerous modifications make the ETF MT-240 dump truck a truly interesting and promising development. The beginning of this project was laid more than 10 years ago, but as far as is known, serial production has not yet been implemented.
