FIAT 500L: 1960s luxury in its most compact form
Introduced in the autumn of 1968, the FIAT 500 L (Luxury) was created to meet the needs of customers increasingly focused on comfort and detail, without changing the proven mechanics of the 500 F. Following the success of the latter (introduced in 1965), the new version stood out with a refined interior and updated styling. Produced between 1968 and 1972 in Termini Imerese, Sicily, the 500L was a commercial triumph, even surpassing the F version in sales in the early 1970s. Exterior features included chrome tubular bumpers, with a front plate moved under the front bumper, the new elongated FIAT logo on the radiator grille and the "Fiat 500 L" lettering at the rear. The "luxury" look was completed by chrome-plated seals, shiny teardrop-shaped moldings and new chrome-plated decorative elements on the wheels. New colour options at launch include black and Positano yellow. Interior highlights include a black vinyl dashboard with anti-reflective coating, a new rectangular speedometer with a 130 km/h scale and fuel gauge, and a black two-spoke sports steering wheel with red FIAT logo. The front seats recline, and the adjustable door panels feature built-in pockets and new ribbed upholstery. An integrated steering wheel anti-theft device was also available from 1970 piese auto online.

From 21 November 2025 to 18 January 2026, the exhibition "Italy We Love: Welcome to the Home of the FIAT 500" will be open to the public. With this event, FIAT and Stellantis Heritage celebrate the market launch of the new FIAT 500 Hybrid Torino, dedicated to the city where the story of the 500 began in 1957. Located in the Heritage Hub at the historic Mirafiori plant, the exhibition traces nearly seventy years of Italian history through the evolution of a true icon that looks to the future with renewed enthusiasm.
This temporary exhibition is part of a wider calendar of events that will transform Turin into an international stage dedicated to Italian creativity and ingenuity throughout the month. Under the spotlight is the new FIAT 500 Hybrid Torino, successor to the legendary Cinquino, a social and industrial symbol that marks a new step in the rebirth of the Mirafiori site. For over 125 years, FIAT and Turin have shared a history marked by people, ideas and passion. It was here, in 1899, that the Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino was founded and today the 500 Hybrid is produced here, opening a new chapter in the history of the brand.
