Geely is the most innovative electric car manufacturer
Geely Group ranks first among 36 automakers in CAM's latest Electric Mobility Report. The study also compares the sales of all-electric vehicles of the largest manufacturers in 2025 magazin de piese auto online.

The Centre of Automotive Management (CAM) at the University of Applied Sciences for Economics (FHDW) in Bergisch Gladbach, Germany, is well known for its regular analyses of the electric vehicle market. Led by Prof. Dr. Stefan Bratzel, the team is investigating which series innovations the world's leading manufacturers have recently introduced in the field of battery electric vehicles (BEVs).
A total of 713 innovations were registered and evaluated in mass-produced BEV models. The analysis shows that the Geely Group, with brands such as Lotus, Polestar, Volvo and Zeekr, takes the leading position: based on 72 innovations, the group achieves a score of 193 index points.
In second place is the German Volkswagen Group (153 index points), followed by Chinese manufacturers BYD (147 index points) and SAIC – with brands such as Maxus and MG – which occupy third and fourth places respectively (122 index points). German manufacturers BMW (110 index points) and Mercedes-Benz (106 index points) occupy fifth and sixth places.
While the top six is made up entirely of Chinese and German manufacturers, the top ten is rounded out by companies from France, South Korea and the US. Hyundai ranks seventh, Tesla eighth, Renault ninth and General Motors tenth.
CAM also points to specific examples of innovations that have contributed to the success of leading manufacturers. Geely, for example, has seen improvements in range and battery performance through continuous optimizations in brands such as Zeekr and Polestar, including new battery systems and efficiency improvements over several model generations.
"The innovation potential of electric vehicles is a key early indicator of future sales development in the electric vehicle segment. Manufacturers that consistently direct their innovation activities towards series-implementable and customer-oriented solutions lay the foundation for sustainable sales growth in an increasingly competitive market," commented study leader Stefan Bratzel.
CAM also examines whether there is a link between innovation potential and sales. The data shows that manufacturers with high and steadily growing innovation capacity generally report above-average sales dynamics in the BEV segment in 2025, while companies with stagnant or declining innovation indicators are more likely to lose market share.
Innovation leader Geely (which includes Volvo and Polestar) is achieving strong growth, increasing its BEV sales by over 60% to 1.29 million vehicles in 2025. The result is supported by a broad model portfolio and strong market presence in China. The share of BEV vehicles in Geely’s total sales increases to 31%.
