GT3 RS (991): one of the most radical 911s of all time

With the 911 GT3 RS, Porsche has blown up the boundaries between sports car and racing car. This 2016 991 GT3 RS is just that: an uncompromising track machine with road-legal credentials, available for €149,991 from a dealer in Burbach, Germany.

At the rear of the car is the legendary 4.0-liter naturally aspirated six-cylinder engine, which in this generation still manages without a turbocharger. It has 500 hp at 8,800 rpm and a sound that is more reminiscent of a Cup series car than a production 911. Gear shifting is done by the PDK automatic transmission. The RS accelerates to 100 km/h in approximately 3.3 seconds.

GT3 RS for the track

In terms of appearance, it's more than clear where this RS is headed. Painted in Lava Orange, with a wide body, massive rear wing and large air vents, its natural environment is the racetrack. RS-specific alloy wheels, red brake calipers and the perfectly tuned PASM suspension underline this ambition.

Inside, Alcantara prevails over leather, and lightweight construction takes precedence over luxury. Sports seats, RS details and the Sport Chrono package ensure that the driver is always aware of what this car is made for. Carbon is used on the door sills and center console, as well as on the hood and trunk lid. Functionality is more important than comfort: rear seats and soundproofing are missing.

Condition and price

With 40,000 miles on the clock, a full service history, German spec, and a valid MOT until February 2027, this example is listed as being in excellent condition. It's also one of the few surviving examples of the first-generation 991 RS that's preserved in near-perfect condition.

The price of a 991 GT3 RS new in 2016 was around 185,000 euros and significantly higher for better-equipped models. Today, these models are more sought after than ever – mainly because of their high-revving, naturally aspirated engine.
