The Mercedes-AMG One is up for auction at RM Sotheby's. The hypercar has barely been driven and is limited to 275 units – but one detail is causing excitement: its paint alone costs as much as a compact car.

The AMG One offered here immediately catches the eye – and this is mainly due to its color: “Pure Green” is the striking shade for which the first owner paid a solid 27,500 euros extra. For that money you could buy a new compact car.

This fascinating one-off is for sale at RM Sotheby's. The car is from 2024 and has just 185 kilometres on the odometer. According to the seller, the car was used for factory testing and is therefore in near-perfect condition. RM Sotheby's expects a sale price of between €2.65m and €3m.

Formula 1 technology for normal roads

The AMG One is one of the most complex production cars in history. Its powertrain comes straight from Formula 1: a 1.6-liter V6 turbo engine combined with four electric motors. The technology is based on Mercedes' 2016 championship-winning car driven by Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

The system output is 1063 hp. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 352 km/h. It also has active aerodynamics and a DRS system similar to those used in motorsport. In the extreme “Strat 2” mode – named after the Formula 1 qualifying setup – the AMG One even set a record: 6:29.090 minutes on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. No production car has been faster on this track.

Service costs over 37,000 euros

In addition to the impressive paint job, this particular example comes with additional extras: matte black magnesium wheels, black brake calipers, as well as an interior with “Magma Grey” nappa leather and green contrast stitching.

The AMG One will be auctioned as part of RM Sotheby's "Sealed May" auction. Bidding is open from May 13 to 21. Interested parties can bid online.

For collectors, the car's extreme engineering will likely be the deciding factor – as well as the rare combination of perfect condition and impressive special paint.
