Opel Astra Sports Tourer Hybrid - 1200 km on a single charge

The Opel Astra Sports Tourer is a true all-rounder – suitable for work, family and leisure. This is clear from its sporty and elegant design, modern technology and, above all, the spacious and functional interior. But all these qualities would only be half as valuable if the car were not also extremely efficient and economical. The Opel team decided to test how far the compact station wagon with 48-volt technology can go on a single tank charge – and achieved a result that few would have expected. According to an internal test, the Astra Sports Tourer Hybrid can travel over 1,200 kilometers in real road conditions – without recharging! This makes the bestseller in the compact class a true long-distance hero – just like the Opel Grandland Plug-in Hybrid, which was also put to a similar test earlier this year. The two electrified models with the Blitz badge clearly prove that they are fully suited to everyday life magazin de piese auto online.

Efficiency and durability: 1200 kilometers with a consumption of 4.3 liters per 100 km

A system output of 107 kW (145 hp) and a fuel tank capacity of 52 liters – these were the starting conditions for the long test of the Opel Astra Sports Tourer. Opel test drivers took a route of around 106 kilometers – from Rüsselsheim via Darmstadt to Worms and back to Opel’s headquarters on the left bank of the Rhine. The car covered the route 11 times in two days without refueling. The route included a variety of road sections – motorways, secondary roads and narrow country streets. The test drivers reached a top speed of 138 km/h, drove slowly through built-up areas and often got into morning and afternoon traffic jams as well as traffic jams during roadworks – in conditions of intense stop-and-go traffic. That is, the test was carried out under real-world conditions similar to those of the WLTP cycle. The average outside temperature during the test was 23 degrees Celsius.

The test Astra Sports Tourer Hybrid was equipped with a number of extras, such as an electric panoramic roof – details that increase weight and therefore consumption. That is why the final results were even more impressive: the Astra Sports Tourer Hybrid covered more than 1,200 kilometers without recharging. The average consumption was 4.3 l/100 km – 0.7 l/100 km below the official WLTP values. Thanks to a 15.6 kW (21 hp) electric motor and a 48-volt battery, the share of purely electric driving was just over 28%. Converted into kilometers – around 345 km were covered on electricity alone. All this at an average speed of 61 km/h – including all situations from highways to city traffic jams. This makes the Opel Astra Sports Tourer Hybrid the ideal car for anyone looking for a comfortable and functional city companion that is capable of driving locally without emissions in traffic at low speeds.

VOX auto mobil test: Astra Sports Tourer Hybrid impresses in all respects

Journalists from the car show VOX auto mobil also put the Astra Sports Tourer Hybrid to the test – this time not on a fixed route, but during a typical long holiday trip. The two test drivers Alexander Bloch and Martin Dunkelmann set off from Munich to the island of Sylt – again in real-life conditions. As can be seen in the show, the Astra Sports Tourer successfully completed the route, despite adverse situations such as traffic jams on the motorway. In total, the editors drove 1,154 kilometres across Germany in the compact station wagon without recharging. Even with two people on board (instead of one, as in Opel's internal test), the air conditioning switched on and an average speed of 78 km/h, they achieved a fuel consumption of just 4.8 l/100 km.
