Summer may be over, but that doesn't mean you can't plan new trips with your family, friends, and even your pets. October marks World Dog Day, so why not make this special day an occasion for a trip for everyone?
And there is hardly a better, more practical and more efficient way to do this than the Opel Combo Electric, which will ensure comfort for the entire large family. The model is the most modern successor to the first Combo, presented 40 years ago at the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA) – the Opel Kadett Combo.
Plenty of space: Travel without local emissions with your whole family and pets
Combo drivers and passengers can travel locally emission-free for up to 344 kilometers (WLTP) without the need for intermediate charging. And the 50 kWh battery can be charged to 80% capacity at a 100 kW DC fast charger in less than 30 minutes – enough time for everyone, including the dogs, to get their feet wet.
The latest Combo Electric can comfortably accommodate multiple dogs of varying sizes, allowing them to explore new territories alongside their humans.
The back of the 4.41-meter Combo version can accommodate a whole gang of cute Shetland sheepdogs – without them getting in each other’s way and driving you crazy. Of course, the whole family can travel together, with room for up to five people. If customers choose the XL version with a vehicle length of 4.76 meters, there is even room for up to seven people in addition to their pets. Optionally, the Combo Electric can be configured with three separate seats in the second row for passenger comfort.
When you arrive at your chosen destination, it's time for play – the tailgate opens and the dogs jump onto the grass from the low loading sill, which is only about 59 cm from the ground. If your four-legged friends need a break or shade, the rear compartment can easily be transformed into a pleasant place to play and relax. Depending on the seat configuration, your dogs can enjoy an area over 2.20 meters long and almost 1.2 meters wide. If necessary, the cargo volume of the Combo XL can reach a maximum of 4,000 liters (distance to the ceiling).
Practical, safe, modern: assistants and technologies in Combo Electric
In the evening, when returning home after an exciting nature walk, passengers can enjoy the view of the starry sky – thanks to the optional panoramic roof, which protects against glare during the day with an electrically activated blind. As is typical of the Combo, the panoramic roof also has other advantages: it has a central gallery that can be used in a variety of ways. For family trips in the Combo Electric, the electric vehicle offers up to 186 liters of additional space thanks to 27 storage solutions in the interior and the roof gallery – ideal for any additional items you want to take with you.
In addition, the battery-electric multi-purpose van offers a number of latest-generation technologies that make every journey more relaxed and safe - first of all, the adaptive Intelli-Lux Matrix headlights. The model offers 18 modern driver assistance systems, the most key of which are adaptive cruise control with stop & go function for starting and shutting off the car with a button, a 180-degree high-resolution rear camera, etc. The ergonomic dashboard with multimedia radio and optional fully digital 10-inch driver display provides all the important information, including data on energy consumption and charging.
Electric All In: Included e-services for affordable electromobility
To further promote electric mobility, Opel is making it even easier and more affordable – starting with the purchase of a car. Anyone who buys a battery-electric model like the Combo Electric receives a range of services as part of the “Electric All In” package.
40 years ago: Opel Kadett Combo debuts at the IAA in Frankfurt
Today, the electric Combo Electric enriches mobility in both family and professional life, but its beginnings date back exactly 40 years. At the International Motor Show (IAA) in 1985, Opel presented a new type of compact transport vehicle with a panel van body – the Kadett Combo, based on the already extremely popular Kadett model. Right from the start, the Combo's strength lay in its practicality and versatility. This was ensured by a specially developed partition system that allowed the seats and the cargo area to be transformed in a few simple steps. The first Combo thus laid the foundation for the Combo series' continued success to this day – as a modern family van and a practical compact transporter at the level of passenger cars for commercial use.
