Progressive hydraulic buffers - Citroën's secret weapon for comfort
Citroën turns every journey into a comfortable experience with the Advanced Comfort system with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions – standard on C4 and C4 piese auto online.

With the latest generation of C4 and C4 X, Citroën introduces its innovative Citroën Advanced Comfort Suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions technology as standard equipment on all versions. This combination provides a feeling of smoothness and lightness even on rough roads, absorbing vibrations and shocks so that every kilometre feels calm, smooth and light.
Developed entirely by Citroën engineers, the Advanced Comfort Suspension with Progressive Hydraulic Cushions replaces traditional mechanical dampers with progressive hydraulic buffers. They smoothly absorb energy when driving over bumps and eliminate sudden impacts.
The result is exceptional smoothness, stability and a feeling that the car is “flying” above the road – an effect that Citroën describes as the “flying carpet”.
For minor vibrations and fine bumps, the springs and shock absorbers ensure a soft and smooth ride of the wheels. For more serious bumps, two hydraulic limiters smoothly slow down the wheel movement and eliminate sharp shocks, ensuring a soft and smooth ride.
This way, the body remains stable, the interior remains calm, and the feeling of comfort remains constant.
