Stellantis brings back the Hemi-V8-engine!
A sigh of relief for fans: Stellantis plans to bring back three V8 engines – by 2025. All the information about the Hemi “family” magazin de piese auto online.

With the introduction of the first electric muscle car in 2024, the Dodge Charger, all hope seemed lost for fans of old-school muscle cars. After all, they had a powerful V8 engine! But now Stellantis has confirmed that several Hemi V8s will return - by 2025!
The infamous engines are not only returning, but they will also receive technical improvements. What exactly this means, however, is still unclear. Since production is scheduled to begin in August 2025, more information can be expected soon. So far, it is known that both the 5.7-liter V8 unit and the larger 6.2- and 6.4-liter variants will return. In addition, the engines will no longer be produced in Mexico, as before, but in the USA.
The last Dodge models with the Hemi V8 engine, some of which were also available in Europe, were the special “Last Call” editions of the Charger and Challenger, as well as the Durango Hellcat. Now the V8 will return to the Charger and Durango. What this means specifically for Europe is also unclear.
How did this sudden turn of events come about?
The decision to bring back these units isn't as unexpected as it might seem at first glance. Back in February 2025, Dodge executives revealed information that the V8 could return. This plan was finally realized after Carlos Tavares stepped down as CEO of Stellantis in December 2024.
