Subaru BRZ: I'm a purist, buy me! (TEST)
The term “basic sports car” doesn’t sound particularly sexy. You think so until you see one. In our case, the BRZ is more like a true sports car. Standing just 1.31 meters tall, with tightly upholstered but not uncomfortable sports seats, a perfectly adjusted driving position in relation to the aluminum pedals and a small steering wheel. The fact that you can only sit in the back seat folded down is unlikely to bother anyone. On the contrary: the compromises in terms of the space offered qualify the Subaru as a car for enthusiasts magazin de piese auto online.

On the old-school scale of cool, the driver and the car effortlessly beat any hot hatch. The 2024 model is powered by a naturally aspirated boxer petrol engine. While the 200 hp unit in the predecessor did not seem powerful enough, the Japanese have now responded and increased the engine displacement from 2.0 to 2.4 liters. The 4-cylinder unit mobilizes its 250 Newton meters at just 3,700 rpm, and the full power of 234 hp is available at 7,000 rpm. Equipped with this and a differential lock, the new model launches ambitiously out of tight corners and, thanks to its power reserves, easily agrees to oversteer.
In terms of suspension, there are differences compared to the Toyota GR86 twin model, as our American colleagues at Car and Driver have noted. The Subaru differs with a more solid front stabilizer bar, different spring rates and aluminum instead of steel struts – at least in the American version. This makes the BRZ ride tight, but remains suitable for everyday use. By the way, there is also a 6-speed automatic transmission. But we do not recommend it.
Although the manual gears are a bit hard to shift, their short throws help to keep the driver engaged in the BRZ's mechanics. Only the manual transmission version can reach a top speed of 226 km/h. So we can easily forgive the 8.6-liter A98H fuel consumption – without Start-Stop. Spare parts are available, so the purchase price of 77,980 BGN is decent. As we said – a basic sports car.
CONCLUSION
Production has ended, but there are still around 300 examples at dealers in Germany. Our advice: don't delay, buy it! The BRZ is unique even today. Its potential as a classic is evidenced by the low depreciation of its predecessor.
