Tatra 141: a well-known tractor in Bulgaria
In the early 1950s, new road transport equipment in Bulgaria was supplied primarily from Eastern European countries, with one of our main partners in this area being Czechoslovakia. In addition to the well-known and more mass-produced models of cars, trucks and buses, limited quantities of exotic vehicles also arrived from there, which aroused great interest. Among them was the extremely powerful truck for transporting particularly heavy loads with non-standard dimensions, the Tatra 141. The specimens, which worked on some of the largest construction sites in our country, could transport loads unthinkable for other trucks, such as giant water turbines, locomotives and even large vessels piese auto online.

The model was developed on the basis of the traditional and proven advantages in practice Tatra 111 R trucks. This is a guarantee of its reliability, stable power and operational capability even in extremely adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain.
Tatra 141 has a very well-synchronized transmission, and additional gears are located in the wheels to reduce the number of revolutions. In addition, there is a massive winch, both front and rear, with stable coupling mechanisms for towing heavy trailers. Its weight with full equipment is 12,780 kg. The ability to overcome slopes of the maximum loaded tractor together with the trailer with a total tonnage of 100 tons on hard pavement is 9.24%.
The proven engine of the Tatra 111 A5 is a 12-cylinder, V-shaped with an angle of 75 degrees between the cylinder rows and a working volume of 14,825 cc. The compression ratio is 16.5:1, and the maximum power reaches 185 hp at 2000 rpm.
In terms of construction, the front axle is a self-adjusting axle with independent suspension, with a double double-acting gear with internal gear meshing and a differential.
The rear axles are self-adjusting axles with independent wheel suspension and double double-acting gears with internal gear meshing, as well as wheel reduction gears, a differential and a transmission brake.
The gearbox is equipped with four forward speeds and one reverse, with the additional gearbox having two modes – the so-called speed for normal road driving and one for “off-road” driving. The steering is equipped with a servo.
The cabin has four doors, with seats for three in the front and five more in the back. If necessary, the seats can be transformed into four beds. The winch is mounted in the body frame and is equipped with a special device to prevent the maximum tractive force from being transferred. It is driven by the additional gearbox via a hinged power take-off shaft. The body frame has guide rollers for the rope, which allow it to move in all directions.
