The Fabia lacks subtlety

IN PRINCIPLE we have no complaints about the series. Based on the VW Polo, honed over 25 years of production, with powerful engines – that’s the situation. Our candidate from the long tests of 100,000 kilometers is in the Monte Carlo equipment level with a turbocharged gasoline engine with 150 hp. This 4-cylinder unit with a maximum torque of 250 Newton meters is powerful and allows the “Czech” to reach a maximum speed of 222 km/h, providing it with agile sprints. At a fast pace, however, the small car spends a little more than the more expensive A 98 N gasoline and at the same time becomes a little noisier. Using only a part of these 150 hp. – that’s the best motto. Then the Fabia even has a consumption of 5 before the decimal point – and works pleasantly cultivated. So far, we have not had any problems with the technology, owners have few complaints about the versatile small car - but recently the Fabia has been annoying (all sensitive drivers) with nervously responsive steering. When driving in a straight line, the steering does not hold the course well. This does not feel very good and interferes with maintaining a straight course. At high speed, you hold the direction like a novice driver. At the last service inspection, Skoda did not fix this oddity - we will continue to monitor the steering behavior for a while.

+ versatile, with very good handling, can be both economical and fast. Great seats, good equipment.

– noisy at low revs, not a particularly good feel from the steering wheel. It is not at all cheap like the 1.5 TSI Monte Carlo with DSG transmission.
