The Secrets of BMW's New iDrive (VIDEO)
BMW has serious plans for 2025. For example, the new Neue Klasse production model is to be introduced, but so that we don't have to keep wondering for too long, the Bavarians are already showing us Operating System X, or OS X for short. And this will be the Neue Klasse's infotainment system bujie denso pret.

Let us clarify that it will definitely not look that gigantic in series production, but before we talk about the steering wheel and the central monitor, I would like to draw your attention to the so-called Panoramic Head-up Display from BMW. This is something completely new as a solution and actually extends across the entire width of the Neue Klasse model. In addition, in this regard, we should emphasize that the technology replaces the left side behind the steering wheel, where we were used to having a cockpit display. So in the future, all types of information related to movement will now be visualized directly on the road, respectively on the new wide screen. It is no coincidence that we mentioned the road, because the Panoramic monitor will not completely replace the classic Head-up display, and in the car we will see another additional one, which will be a curved Curved Head-up display, projecting onto the road surface and showing additional data and values from the car. The center of the new panoramic monitor also contains additional control elements that can actually be freely configured. This means that depending on what a person wants, they could position Spotify or other applications there, but also, for example, in the sports driving mode, visualize important or additional information, for example about the available torque, but also the power that is currently being used. This is, in short, the most important thing about the new Panoramic display, and now we will continue with the steering wheel.
At first glance, it is clear that the steering wheel has been completely redesigned. OK, some standard functions, such as music selection or volume control, are nothing new, but the two clusters to the left and right of the center, as well as the thinning at the bottom and top, represent a new solution. We can't tell you anything about the material the steering wheel is made of yet, since we only see a giant demonstration model here. However, things get much more interesting here, with the central monitor. As is typical for BMW, the screen is again slightly tilted towards the driver. And as you can see, it is no longer rectangular, but more shaped like a parallelepiped. In fact, we have already seen this at the Neue Klasse studio and it has apparently made its way to series production. Let's also mention something about the infotainment itself and the technology that works behind the glass. In terms of technology, the source is Android, but not Android Automotive, but the Android Open Source Project. This is a small but significant difference, because in this case we are not talking about a licensed product, but in this case Android only provides some specific framework conditions on which BMW is already starting to build its own infotainment system.
