This is how a used car scam works on the Internet

Two young men have been arrested for fraud through false advertisements for the sale of motor vehicles at a bargain price. The police actions were carried out by officers of the Fraud Sector at the General Directorate of the Bulgarian National Police and their colleagues from the regional directorates in Stara Zagora and Blagoevgra piese auto online.

This is how a used car scam works on the Internet

The investigation began after receiving information about false advertisements distributed through various platforms on the Internet for the urgent sale of cars, trucks, and specialized equipment at reduced prices. In the course of the operational actions taken, the mechanism through which two men, identified as the actual perpetrators, acted was clarified. After misleading potential buyers, they demanded a deposit to be transferred to a bank account. After the money was transferred, contact with the alleged sellers was interrupted.

Yesterday, as part of a specialized police operation with the participation of officers from the General Directorate of the National Police - Fraud Sector, the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Stara Zagora - Sector "Combating Economic Crime" and the Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Blagoevgrad - Sector "Combating Criminal Crime", a 28-year-old from the village of Pokrovnik in Blagoevgrad and a 29-year-old from Blagoevgrad were detained with a police warrant. Both are criminally active.

During the investigative actions carried out in properties and motor vehicles used by the two, mobile phones, SIM cards and other items related to the criminal activity under investigation were found and seized.

Following a report to the prosecutor's office, charges have been filed against the two men. Their detention order has been changed to a period of up to 72 hours. A request for a "detention in custody" measure is pending against the accused in court.

The work continues under the supervision of the Stara Zagora District Prosecutor's Office.
