Toyota launching a small Land Cruiser as early as 2025?
Toyota is working on a mini version of the Land Cruiser. The small SUV could arrive as early as this year bieleta directie cap de bara sidem pret stanga si dreapta.

Downsizing is a trend not only in engines: Mercedes recently downsized the G-Class, for example. Now, rumors are growing that Toyota will release a smaller version of the iconic Land Cruiser (which received an update in 2024). The mini-SUV, likely named “FJ,” could debut as early as October this year at the Japan Mobility Show or in November at the LA Auto Show.
Design and dimensions
If the designers are guided by the Compact Cruiser EV studio shown in the photo and borrow the vision of the new version of its big brother, then this baby Land Cruiser will have an angular shape in a retro style. Japanese media also report specific dimensions of the small Land Cruiser 4.35 Meter lang, 1.86 m breit und 1.89 m hoch werden.
Base and drive
There are several options when it comes to powertrains: unlike the all-electric Compact Cruiser EV Concept, the production model will be powered by classic internal combustion engines and hybridized engines. It could be offered with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine. The 2.8-liter diesel engine with a mild hybrid system from the Hilux or the 2.5-liter hybrid engine from the RAV4 are also possible. However, smaller powertrains such as the two-liter gasoline engine from the Corolla Cross could also appear.
It is said to be based on the same IMB platform as the compact Hilux Champ pickup truck sold in Asia. Other sources say the new model will be based on the TNGA platform, which is already used by the new Land Cruiser and other models such as the Lexus LX 600.
