The S7 is an understated “rocket”: a twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 550 Newton meters of maximum torque, permanent all-wheel drive and a seven-speed S-tronic transmission give the model a commanding presence on the road. Only the four tailpipes and a bit of aluminum around the side mirrors and in the radiator grille reveal the powerful version, which accelerates to 100 km/h in well under five seconds. Audi has retained the mouth-like air vents, the impressive exhaust system and the massive 21-inch wheels with 275 mm tires for the RS 7.
Neglected examples with unclear maintenance history can be bought for under 40,000 BGN. Remember to stay away from such problematic cars! (Hidden) chip tuning is also not uncommon on the S7 – since the engine setup is the same as that of the 560 hp RS 7, the turbocharger pressure changes are tempting.
More recommended, however, are hardware modifications, such as improved intercoolers and cooling systems that reduce the heat load on the two turbochargers. The more cost-effective option in all respects is the supercharged V6 engine. It has at least 300 hp and is over 100 kilograms lighter. Although piston warping, chain stretching and increased oil consumption are common problems, it is still the more reliable choice.
