Volkswagen increases the range of its e-Transporter and e-Caravelle electric vans
The specialists at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles have significantly optimized the capabilities and performance of the Transporter and Caravelle model range with a fully electric drive. The battery with an increased usable capacity of 70 kWh, the accelerated charging process when using direct current (DC) fast charging stations and the optional 4Motion all-wheel drive system contribute significantly to
increasing the comfort and performance of the electric versions. In this way, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles offers its customers even greater efficiency with the e-Transporter and e-Caravelle and facilitates their transition to an environmentally friendly and economical fleet with lower CO₂ emissions magazin de piese auto online.

Longer range, shorter charging times and a significantly wider and more diverse range of applications for the electric versions. This is the result of the increase in the net battery capacity of the e-Transporter and e-Caravelle from 64 to around 70 kWh, which allows for around 13% more range. In addition to the ability to travel up to 380 kilometers on a single charge, the time for recharging the battery has also been significantly shortened – when using the 125 kW DC fast charging station, the traction battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes. In practice, this not only means saving the extremely valuable ten minutes in everyday working life with each charge, but also the ability to gain enough energy for an additional range of around 100 kilometers within a short ten-minute stay at the charging station.
The new 4Motion all-wheel drive system in turn offers intelligent options for achieving even better traction and stability on the road. From the beginning of 2026, the fully electric version of the Transporter can now also be ordered with the 4Motion system, in which the well-known electric motor on the rear axle is combined with an additional traction unit.
front-wheel drive. The system uses intelligent electronic traction control without a mechanical connection between the drive units and is able to direct and dose the required torque with extreme precision between the front and rear axles, providing even better traction and grip when driving on difficult and unstable terrain such as construction sites, wet pavement or dirt roads.
To achieve the best possible contact, traction and stability on the road, the 4Motion electric all-wheel drive system works in close cooperation with the sensors and actuators of the Electronic Stability Program (ESP) and the Electronic Traction Control (TC). This allows torque and braking force to be applied with maximum precision and precision to correct unwanted deviations in road behaviour such as oversteer and understeer, ensuring optimum safety in challenging road conditions and when transporting heavy loads.
The 4Motion drive system is available in three power levels – 100 kW (136 hp), 160 kW (218 hp) and 210 kW (286 hp).
