Volvo updated the XC90, will offer it with fewer engines
The latest generation of the Volvo XC90 has been on the market for quite some time: the large SUV has been at dealers since 2015. The first facelift of the model was done in 2019. Volvo is now refreshing the second generation XC90 for the second time. You can recognize the facelift at first sight, because the changes on the front are visible. What immediately catches the eye is the new, wider radiator grille. Its entire web is made up of diagonal stripes that change direction in the middle. The signature narrower headlights in the shape of a recumbent letter "T" are like the electric sibling of the EX90 model piese auto Volvo.
However, the improvements are not only visual, but also technical: the front lights rely on matrix LED technology. The bumper and lower air intakes now have a cleaner design. At the rear, Volvo wants to create a more modern look with darker taillights. The cleaner exterior design is continued into the interior, which looks tidier and more modern. With its 11.2 inches, the central screen is larger than its predecessor (9 inches). As with its other models, Volvo sticks to the portrait display format. The new display should provide a higher resolution and respond faster to touch commands. But Volvo hasn't gone all-in on touch control. As before the facelift, there are quick select buttons and a rotary switch below the display. The digital speedometer is still 12.3 inches in size. As is typical for a facelift, new materials have been added to the interior. The surface of the instrument panel mirrors the texture of the seat upholstery (which can now also be herringbone patterned).
Volvo is reducing the range of powertrains. The XC90 will be available as a 250hp petrol 'mild hybrid', as well as a plug-in hybrid. The second variant generates 310 "horses" from the 2-liter gasoline unit and 145 from the electric motor. The range of up to 72 km entirely on electricity is the same as before. An 8-speed automatic transmission will take care of the transmission of power to the wheels in both cases. Volvo does not offer diesels from April 2024, and the gasoline model with 300 hp. (B6) is no longer available.
