What brand is this truck? Warning - there's a catch!
At first glance, the answer is very easy, because we have all seen such trucks. The Škoda-LIAZ 706 MT models are well known in our country, since the time when they were assembled in Shumen under the name "Madara". However, the shown specimen has nothing to do with these two brands piese auto online.

Here's what it's all about. The photos show a truck with a standard LIAZ cab, which, however, looks a bit disproportionate and placed lower than the chassis. The wheels are also smaller, and the base is shorter. In terms of design, the large and specifically shaped turn signals are impressive.
It turns out that this truck is a little-known prototype developed in the period 1968-1970 by the famous Czech truck manufacturer Praga. In the mid-1960s, the automotive industry of Czechoslovakia was in the process of dynamic changes, modernization and reorganization. This also applies to the old Praga S5T trucks, whose technological resource had long been exhausted, but the development of a modern successor turned out to be more difficult than it seemed. Then the decision was made at the enterprise to begin licensed production of the 6-ton French trucks SAVIEM (owned by Renault) under the name Avia S6T.
On the other hand, the plant management believes that the range can be supplemented by a 7-ton truck based on the S5T. Thus, in the late 1960s, an attempt was made to produce a small series of the unknown Avia S7T truck, which was a combination of the Praga chassis and the LIAZ cabin. It was first presented to the public at the international technical fair in Brno in 1969. In addition to its modern appearance, it is also distinguished by a spring seat, hydraulic steering, three-circuit brake system, improved suspension, etc. Its total weight is 12,430 kg, and the chassis's curb weight is 4,380 kg. The maximum speed reaches 80 km/h, and the ability to overcome slopes is 27%. The maximum engine power is 115 hp at 2,200 rpm, and the maximum torque is 42 Nm.
According to experts, the Avia S7T is better than the Praga S5T, and in many ways is not inferior in potential and technical indicators to the SAVIEM. However, after the production of the experimental series, it turns out that this interesting model simply has nowhere to be made, since the main potential of the enterprise is engaged in the licensed production of the French model.
