Lewis Hamilton is selling all his cars!

Lewis Hamilton is clearing out his garage: the world champion has sold all his cars, from an AMG One to a Shelby Cobra. The reason: a radical change in his views.

Lewis Hamilton is causing a stir with a radical move: the seven-time Formula 1 world champion has revealed that he no longer has a single car in his personal garage. "I've sold them all," the Ferrari driver said during the Baku Grand Prix - surprising even die-hard fans.

Hamilton has long been considered a passionate supercar fan. His collection included everything from the Mercedes SLS AMG to the brutal G 63 6×6 and AMG One, as well as classics like the Shelby Cobra (1966) and Mustang GT500 (1967).

Hamilton parting ways with his supercars

Hamilton owned absolute automotive icons such as the McLaren F1 (sold at auction for $15.6 million), the LaFerrari and his infamous purple Pagani Zonda, which he sold for $11 million – shortly after the car's new owner crashed in Wales.

But Hamilton looks at his cars differently these days. "I'm more interested in art now. If I had to buy a car again, it would be a Ferrari F40. But it's also a work of art," the Formula 1 driver smiles.

The Briton announced a few years ago that he would downsize his garage. The reason: climate protection and reducing emissions. Like Sebastian Vettel, Hamilton wants to be a role model – and in addition to his cars, he even parted with his 2013 Mercedes F1 W04 and his private jet.

Cars as investments? That seems to be a thing of the past. Hamilton's focus is now on fashion, music and art. And yet: The Ferrari F40, Hamilton says, would be the one exception for him. Not as a car, but as a sculpture on wheels.
