Max Verstappen to race against David Schumacher at the Green Hell

A serious battle is looming on the Nordschleife: the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring (to be held on May 16-17) will become the arena of the battle between two big names: Verstappen and Schumacher.
Max Verstappen and David Schumacher will go head-to-head at the Green Hell. The next race of the NLS championship on March 21 will pit them against each other for the first time. Verstappen will drive a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for his own team, while Schumacher will be behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang GT3 from Haupt Racing Team.
David Schumacher will start with a Ford Mustang GT3
Ralf Schumacher's son will drive the Pro-Am car with the number 65, partnering with team boss Hubert Haupt and veteran Frank Stipler. Their ambitions are clear: "I'm ready to push the limits, chase lap times and gain even more experience!" Schumacher wrote on Instagram.
"There is no better place to start the season than the Nürburgring and I am really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel for the first time this year. The Nordschleife is one of the most legendary and technical tracks in the world and every lap there is special for a driver," revealed the nephew of Formula 1 title record holder Michael Schumacher.
For HRT, the event is more than just a race. Two Mustang GT3s will be on the grid, for the first time – with the EVO upgrade package.
Verstappen also uses the races as training. The Formula 1 world champion has long wanted to launch his personal project on the Nordschleife - one of the reasons being that, in his opinion, Formula 1 is currently not an adequate challenge, either as a sport or from a driving perspective.
After a difficult start to the season, the Dutchman is now seeking the pure pleasure of riding where it is greatest: on more than 20 kilometers of asphalt, without complex energy management algorithms – but at the cost of this: with maximum risk. This shows that this year's edition of the 24-hour race will be very special not only in terms of sport, but also in terms of emotions – especially with such big names participating.
