Welcome to the Porsche Battery Kitchen in Slovakia

For the new generation of the Cayenne, Porsche is using high-voltage batteries that have been developed and produced entirely in-house. The sports car manufacturer is thus continuing to develop its own battery expertise in a targeted manner and to deepen its technological expertise in the field of electric mobility. Porsche batteries are produced in Europe and combine high levels of power, capacity and efficiency with exceptional quality magazin de piese auto online.

Welcome to the Porsche Battery Kitchen in Slovakia

Together with Porsche Werkzeugbau GmbH, Porsche has set up the Porsche Smart Battery Shop in Horná Streda, Slovakia, a state-of-the-art facility for the production of the next generation of battery modules. The location was not chosen by chance – it is here that Porsche Werkzeugbau’s technology center is located. The facility has been expanded to the level of an innovative technical center, which, as a reliable partner, supports Porsche in the development of new products and processes. About an hour’s drive from Bratislava, this location will in future become the production base for the battery modules for the new Cayenne Electric.

The close integration with Porsche Werkzeugbau is a key factor in the project’s success, as the expertise gained in the production of prototype components can be used for the implementation in series production. Construction of the 40,200 square meter production hall began in January 2023, and the installation of the production equipment in September of the same year. Thanks to the intensive cooperation between the engineers responsible for technical development in Weissach and the production planning in Zuffenhausen, the project was completed in record time. In May 2024, the facility produced its first completed module.

In a complex, precisely organized production process, 32 individual lithium-ion cells are combined to create a complete module. Six such modules form the high-voltage battery used in the Cayenne Electric.

The module manufacturing process includes the following main stages:

The modern module production facility collects process data in real time, ensuring full transparency and control at every stage of production. Before each battery module leaves the factory, the components are checked against all quality criteria, and all production-related data is archived safely and securely in the cloud. This means that each approved module has undergone comprehensive and continuous quality control as it passes through the production process. The process allows the factory to access and provide the relevant data immediately and ensures full traceability even after many years.

In addition to product quality, Porsche also checks the battery parameters – in particular those related to its durability and charging capacity. For this purpose, the new batteries are validated under laboratory conditions in the company’s own analysis center. The same applies to the associated components, which still come from test vehicles. To ensure that the high-voltage battery meets Porsche’s strict quality standards, extreme conditions – such as exposure to heat of 60 to 100 degrees Celsius – are simulated and a liquid immersion test is carried out.

In the next production step, a supplier equips the battery modules with high-voltage cables and the corresponding connectors. They are then transported “just in sequence” (JIS) to the assembly line at the Bratislava plant.
