Renault Boreal – or the disguised Dacia Bigster for markets outside Europe
In the face of Boreal, Renault is launching a new SUV – designed specifically for markets outside Europe – such as Latin America, the Middle East and the Mediterranean region piese auto online.

Renault has unveiled the Boreal, a new C-segment SUV designed specifically for markets outside Europe. The Boreal will be produced in two locations, which should give Renault more flexibility in terms of market and supply.
Models for a total of 17 South American markets will be produced at the Curitiba plant in Brazil, while cars for the Middle East, Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean region will be made in Bursa, Turkey. The model will be launched in a total of 54 markets.
At 4.56 metres long, the Boreal is roughly the same size as the Austral or Dacia Bigster. The latter model “sees through” the Boreal’s profile – and is recognizable, for example, by the rising line of the rear window. The front features a completely new light design with trapezoidal LED elements, complemented by a new grille design with square cooling vents.
The rear lights are inspired by the Renault Symbioz. Thanks to the almost upright rear window, the Boreal offers ample cargo space: with all the seats up, the model will be able to hold 586 liters and up to 1,770 with the rear seats folded down.
The infotainment system features integrated Google services. These include Google Maps with real-time traffic information and automatic updates, the intuitive Google Assistant voice control system, and Google Play with access to over 100 in-car apps.
Boreal will be launched in South American markets at the end of 2025.
At launch, the Boreal will be equipped with a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that generates up to 163 hp and maximum torque of 270 Nm. A Flex Fuel variant will be offered in Brazil. The engine is combined with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Boreal is the fourth model in Renault's "International Game Plan", under which the company aims to launch a total of eight new cars for markets outside Europe by 2027.
