Defender Trophy: the adventure begins!

Defender is looking for people with a true adventurous spirit, ready to take on a whole new type of competition. The new Defender Trophy is inspired by the iconic Trophy and Challenge events of the past, but has the ambition to build its own legend over three stages of training and competition. Only those who embrace the impossible and are passionate about the mission of protecting nature will be ready for this. An epic adventure with a great cause.

Defender has been the choice of explorers and expedition leaders for decades. Now, the new global initiative is inviting entries from over 50 countries. Applications open in September. National selections will take place next spring, and in the fall of 2026, country finals will take place to determine who will advance to the global final in Africa – in partnership with conservation organization Tusk.

Winners will be given the unique opportunity to embark on an epic mission that will ensure that the Defender Trophy leaves a lasting and positive mark on the people and places it touches.

Every great expedition deserves a great vehicle. The new Defender 110 Trophy Edition embodies the spirit of adventure for a new generation of enthusiasts, as the race is watched by a global online audience. Inspired by the spirit of the event, the model is now available to order in two exclusive colours inspired by the brand’s heritage – Deep Sandglow Yellow and Keswick Green – with a specially selected configuration ready for adventure.

Mark Cameron, Managing Director Defender, said: “Global adventure and community have been at the heart of the Defender brand for decades – true to its roots, which date back to the original Land Rover in 1948. Our new, unique international adventure challenge will unite nations as participants collaborate to overcome difficult terrain, extreme physical challenges and tactical tasks driven by a higher purpose.

Working with Tusk – our conservation partner for over 20 years – we will inspire a new generation of fans with an epic adventure that will be watched online from around the world and leave behind a legacy to be proud of. If you are ready to embrace the impossible and share our indomitable spirit of adventure – this challenge is for you.”

Defender is looking for people who embody the values of the original British adventure brand to take part in the first edition of the Defender Trophy. Among the conditions for participation are: candidates must live in a country included in the initiative; be over 23 years of age; be able to swim at least 50 meters, have the right to drive and travel abroad and be fluent in English. But most importantly – to carry an indomitable adventurous spirit.

The new Defender 110 Trophy Edition

The new Defender 110 Trophy Edition marks the brand’s return to international adventure racing. The model comes with a range of specialist expedition accessories that make it the perfect partner for any challenge. It also introduces two new colours inspired by Defender’s heritage – a starting point for a new generation of thrill seekers.

The Trophy Edition will be available exclusively in Deep Sandglow Yellow or Keswick Green – colours with contrasting Gloss Black elements on the bonnet, lower body, brake calipers and tow hooks. Deep Sandglow Yellow is a modern reinterpretation of an iconic colour from historic Trophy events, while Keswick Green pays homage to adventures in the British countryside – the Defender’s homeland. Both colours can be completed with an optional matt protective film, which protects the bodywork and adds extra durability for those who venture off-road.

The adventure-ready configuration includes new 20-inch Gloss Black alloy wheels and All-Terrain tires for all-terrain stability, a dark-colored rear skid plate, Gloss Black wheel arch protectors, and a black front skid plate.

Trophy lettering on the bonnet and C-pillar, as well as a special badge at the rear, underline the model’s unique appearance. The interior features metal door sill finishers with illuminated Trophy lettering, highlighting the model’s origins, while black Windsor leather seats offer robust yet luxurious comfort. The front fascia elements are finished in the same distinctive exterior colour and there are unique side trim elements on the instrument panel with Trophy badging.

For ultimate off-road capability, optional accessories include an expedition-grade roof rack that provides extra storage space for gear-heavy trips, and a black retractable roof ladder for easy access to cargo from above. There’s also a Gloss Black side-mounted bin for extra storage space for muddy, wet or sandy items; classic front and rear mudguards and high-mounted air ducts for dust protection.
